St Day and Carharrack Primary School

Teaching and Learning Support

We are incredibly lucky this year to have Ms Popperwell working across the whole school - supporting all of our children to be their best by delivering small group focussed learning.

She will spend time with children from each class - precision teaching to help embed key concepts across the year. This focussed learning will allow her to target specific areas that children might find tricky and use her wealth of experience to present it in a way that works for them.  This teaching, designed to complement in-class learning, is designed to strengthen our childrens' learning foundations - embedding key skills and knowledge that will serve them throughout education and for the rest of their lives.

Ms Popperwell will also be working closely with parents to ensure everyone is experiencing a positive, valuable school experience.

Teaching and Learning Support

I have been lucky enough to have taught at St Day and Carharrack Primary school for a number of years and still love every second of it! I am a true Cornish girl and am passionate about the wonderful county we are fortunate enough to live in. I enjoy running the coast paths and taking my sprocker puppy Kip for long walks in our glorious countryside or on a beach. I have a wonderful loud, lively family and I spend most of my weekends, whatever the weather, on the side of a football pitch cheering them on! When I am not running, biking or walking I love to read – I have a never-ending stack of books next to my bed as I just adore a new book. As a child I enjoyed all the Enid Blyton books, Wilard Price books and Agatha Christie. I love learning and truly believe we should all learn something new everyday. I love getting to know the children in my class really well, celebrating their successes and strengths as well as guiding and helping when needed. I believe the best types of classrooms are those full of smiles , laughter and fun and for me creating that is the best part of being a teacher.
