Important end of term dates + covid-19 update + football

9th July 2021

Dear Families

IMPORTANT DATES:

  • Next week is the last week for class clubs – the children have really enjoyed these sessions – a big thank you to staff for running these after school sessions (No clubs on Monday 19th-21st)
  • Friday 16th July – whole school transition morning. Children will spend additional time with their new class teacher.
  • Wednesday 21st – LAST DAY. School will be finishing at 1pm for KS1 and 1.10pm for KS2. We will be waving our wonderful Yr 6 children off on this day.
  • School re –opens on Wednesday 8th September.

FOOTBALL – School attendance Monday 12th July

As many of our children will be watching the football on Sunday evening, we would like to give families the option of a later start. We will be authorising a later start to the day to enable your child to enjoy the evening and sleep a bit longer on Monday morning.

School will still be open from 8.45am and we are happy for your child to arrive anytime from 8.45am up until 10.30am.

(Sorry staff - we are all in at the usual time!)

Please ensure your child is in school by 10.30 am at the latest, rested and ready to learn rather than absent and tired all day.

If you are going to arrive later than 9am, please order your child’s lunch today.

Enjoy the match!

Covid-19 SCHOOL UPDATE and CONFIRMATION OF CONTINUED PROCEDURES – ALL REMAIN IN PLACE

Despite government changes and the government’s ‘step 4’ roadmap relaxing restrictions on July 19th, our school will continue with the same Health and Safety measures and risk assessments in place until the end of term on the 21st July.

We continue to follow the science and as covid cases remain the highest in Cornwall and are still rising, it is not a risk we are prepared to take for two days. While there may be the freedom to relax measures (such as the use of bubbles), there is no obligation for us to do so at such a late stage. Our priority is to protect all staff and families and prevent anyone having to isolate, before they go into the summer holidays. Please be assured that everything will be monitored and reviewed over the summer holidays.

As a school community, we have been incredibly fortunate to remain open at all times. In large part, this has been down to families supporting our decisions and making sensible choices to keep your children home when you have had any concerns. We thank you enormously. There is tremendous pressure on local schools with closed bubbles and children isolating due to the impact of the delta variant, with many Yr 6 children unable to celebrate their last days in school together. We are continuing to have our usual end of term celebrations in school with every class celebrating every child.

From July 19th, for the last two days, if you are on school property, we ask you to please continue to observe the same measures – wearing a face mask if you choose to walk your child around into the playground and maintain social distancing- especially when lining up at the gate.

A final newsletter will be out next week - with lots of photos. The children are really enjoying learning outdoors - we are very lucky.

Best wishes
