Confirmation of Last Day December 18th + Covid-19 Procedures During the Holidays

11th December 2020

Dear Families

This is to confirm that our plans for the last day of school remain the same – Friday December 18th at the same staggered times. I can see the confusion caused by the media. After carefully considering our options and in consultation with local Redruth Schools, I have decided to stick with our plans. Unfortunately, the advice from the government has come too late in the day to make changes as families are counting on us to remain open.

Please see the following advice and information from the DfE and the plans we have in place for the holidays in relation to Covid-19. It is crucial that you continue to inform me if you or your child tests positive for Covid-19 – especially in the first 48 hours of leaving school on December 18th (up until Sunday 20th) – so that I can inform everyone in the class bubble to isolate if necessary.

Thank you to everyone for continuing to observe ‘hands, face, space’– we have nearly made it safely to the end of this term thanks to the efforts of the whole community! For this last week- it is crucial to maintain social distancing and for anyone who is feeling unwell to remain at home to avoid transmission or spread of any germs in school. If you have Covid-19 symptoms, please get tested as soon as possible. We want to minimise any family or staff member having to isolate over the Christmas period. Thank you for your continued support

Covid-19 – Procedures Regarding Positive Cases in the Holidays:

  • As a School, we hold key contact information if there is a confirmed Covid-19 case in our School and this information is shared with Public Health England. This is why I need to know if you have symptoms in the first 48 hours of leaving school - as the guidance states if someone tests positive for coronavirus, those who were in close contact with them 48 hours before the symptoms emerged are likely to need to be told to self-isolate.

This guidance applies to staff, children, parents and carers. If you develop Covid-19 symptoms and test positive, please let me know so I can contact the whole bubble.

  • Where a pupil or staff member tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms more than 48 hours after being in school (after December 20th) Parents and carers should follow the normal National Test and Trace system.
  • For the first 6 days after teaching ends, if a pupil or staff member tests positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), having developed symptoms within 48 hours of being in school, I will assist in identifying close contacts and advising self-isolation, as the individual may have been infectious whilst in school.

Please do not let your child return to school on January 5th if there is a confirmed case in your family or if your child is displaying any symptoms.

I will respond to emails for contact tracing during this Christmas period. If you need to get hold of me, please email me directly with COVID-19 as the subject:
