Wk 15 Headteacher School Update and Newsletter 14-12-20

14th December 2020

Dear Families

I will be sending some lovely photos out this week so you can see the different but still fun term we have had - with more celebrations to come this week! Do take a look at the school website to see our talented Year 6 children and the brilliant film they have produced: 'A Christmas Like No Other.' The children have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about the First World War and in particular the Christmas Day truce of 1914. The children have done a phenomenal job of acting and learning their lines. We hope it takes you on an emotional roller coaster as we honour those who fought and the loved ones they left behind. A great job Year 6!

Our wonderful Reception and Year 1 children have combined their singing and performing talents to celebrate Christmas in a combined video- we will share the link with you once it is live - and you can have a sing along. Our youngest children have settled into school so well and we are very proud of them and their achievements so far.

A big thank you to our talented staff for learning many new technical skills to bring this all to you by video while maintaining class bubbles!

Many of our children have illustrated a modern take on the 'Ten Tales of Christmas' written by Anne Butcher. The church is very keen to celebrate this Christmas and reach out to the wider community, including those with different religions. These tales are for everyone so do pop in to see the lovely artwork displayed.

Parking

Thank you to the parents who have reported their concerns regarding families who continue to park outside the school during busy drop off/collection times and concerns regarding other vehicles speeding. We share the same concerns and want to avoid any life threatening incidents. Please continue to observe the agreed times of not driving down to school between the following hours: 8.15 -9.15am and 2.30-3.30pm.

Thank you to the families who continue to support a safe drop off by parking away from the school. We continue to monitor this by reporting cars that park illegally and having the conversation with families. Please bear in mind, that occasionally a parent may be granted permission to drive down for exceptional reasons agreed by the school - this will be evidenced by a letter from the school for an agreed period of time.

Covid-19

Following my email last week, hopefully the visual flowchart attached will clarify what to do if there is a confirmed Covid-19 case.

Free School Meals

If your child already receives FSM, you do not need to do anything, you will receive a voucher this week.

Please see the fire safety poster attached. This has been shared with children in class assembly.

Don't forget Christmas jumpers/hats/favourite jumper for Wednesday! A £1.00 donation would be much appreciated for Save the Children.

Many thanks
