Computing Curriculum Intent Statement

At St Day and Carharrack Community School we strive to ensure that children are responsible, competent and creative users of computer technology. We aim to provide a quality computing curriculum that will engage and equip children, preparing them to excel in the ever-changing world of technology. Children will receive knowledge and understanding of planning, designing and creating programs, evaluating and organising data. They will experience word processing and data handling, alongside developing understanding and respect of e-safety. Children will be provided with skills and confidence to recognise, process and report any concerns. We aim for the children to enjoy becoming digitally literate, enabling them to express themselves, develop ideas and become responsible citizens in the digital world. At St Day and Carharrack we view computing as an important tool for teaching and learning across all other subject areas and aim to use ICT as a natural tool for research, analysis and presentation. Our aim is to prepare children as Change-Makers of the world with opportunities that enable them to have a successful future in an environment shaped by technology.
