Religious Education (RE)

Religious Education Curriculum Intent Statement

Here at St Day and Carharrack Community Primary School we believe that R.E. is an important part of the curriculum that provides our pupils with the opportunity to develop an understanding and acceptance of people, cultures, faiths and relationships. Through careful guidance and modelling, our pupils learn to enjoy, appreciate, celebrate and challenge others respectfully preparing them for life as part of a diverse and exciting world. We use the Cornwall Agreed Syllabus as a tool to support our learners recognise and respect the differences that exist within and between communities and to understand that everyone has the right to an identity – inclusive of personal religious beliefs, and to understand, engage and excel within their role to protect these rights. R.E. reinforces values of tolerance, unity, democracy and respect within our pupils as they begin to make sense of the world around them.
