Modern Foreign Languages (MFL)

Curriculum Statement of Intent - Modern Foreign Language (MFL)

At St Day and Carharrack Community School, we teach French in KS2 as a modern foreign language. The children will develop and excel their language learning skills as we provide educational, social and cultural experiences. We aim to build communication skills and knowledge of how language works, as well as encouraging an awareness of cultural differences while developing tolerance and celebrating diversity within society. The children will engage actively with opportunities to apply their language skills beyond lessons through daily routines such as: answering the register, ordering their lunches, language days and enjoying whole school events. From this, children at St Day and Carharrack Community School will gain a new perspective of the world beyond the Cornish borders and will become all round, informed, responsible global citizens.
