Reception (EYFS) Home Learning - How you can support learning at home

EVIDENCE ME

We keep families informed about their child’s progress through conversations, newsletters and a learning journal online called 'Evidence Me'. It is a really effective way for parents and teachers to communicate about their child’s learning. Please see the letter below in order to get started!

Reading/Phonics

Children begin their reading journey using the very well known Ruth Miskin scheme, 'Read Write Inc' (RWInc). As the children learn their individual phonic sounds they will bring home homework packs that they can practise with you at home.  Similarly, they will be expected to practise their reading on a daily basis as soon as they have learnt their set one sounds in RWInc.  Each child will have library books that they can share at home and these will be changed regularly.

Maths
In order to build a strong foundation in mathematics, St Day and Carharrack School follows two schemes called 'Number Sense' and 'White Rose Maths'.  Mathematics is taught in a variety of ways In Reception class including, short, daily, whole class sessions, small group work, through song and rhyme and  carefully planned within our environment both indoors and outdoors.  Homework for mathematics can be accessed by using the link below for White Rose Maths.
