What we are learning

Curriculum Overview 2023 - 24
We begin the year asking the questions: Was Qdysseus a great leader and Where did the Olympic games start?
 
 Autumn Term
We will enjoy finding out about the religious and social aspects of Ancient Greek life and dig deeper into the chronology of the Olympic Games and the legacy it has left within modern society.
 Summer Term
We will be asking the questions Is trade fair? and What consitutes an Empire?, as part of our Summer Term learning. We will be delving into the past and investigating fossils and dinosaur life - we will also be exploring the amazing topic of evolution. Summer sports include: cricket, rounders, volleyball and athletics.
Transition and moving on to secondary school will also be topics that will be discussed thoughtfully and sensitively. As part of our PSHE curriculum we will finding out about managing relationships and how we change as we grow up. We will spend as much time outdoors as possible and have a very active Summer Term.
 
Spring Term 
As part of our history curriculum, we will ask the questions 'How has the Black Death impacted the UK and wider world?' and 'How can we connect this to other pandemics in the world?' We will look at medicine and how this has progressed over time.
In geography, we will ask the question 'What are the main climate zones in the world?' and 'What are the different biomes?'
We are looking forward to swimming after half term and taking part in many lessons with Redruth School teachers, including Spanish, Maths and Science.
