St Day And Carharrack Community School

Ignite the spark... Fire the desire

On behalf of the children, staff and Governors of St Day and Carharrack School it gives me great pleasure as Headteacher to welcome you to our school website.

I hope that the website gives you a taste of life at St Day and Carharrack Community Primary School, please come and visit us to experience first-hand the learning environment within which the children are succeeding in their achievements; the children at our school are always busy using their curiosity to develop their learning.

Children lie at the heart of everything we do. Every decision within school is made by first considering the needs of the children and what will enable them to achieve in their learning.

As a school team we value your involvement with your child’s education; parents are warmly welcomed as partners working together with members of staff to enable every child to be successful in all aspects of their learning.

Our school is committed to being actively involved in the children’s community. Many members of the local community dedicate their time to bring a wealth of skills, talent and knowledge to the children.

I feel privileged to lead a team of professional, talented and dedicated staff who delight in providing creative opportunities for the children to succeed.

I look forward to welcoming you to school.

Opal Class enjoy their first school Christmas lunch. Do you know that shortbread biscuits go well with cranberry sauce? Well the adults forgot to tell us it was not bowls of jam on the table!

Cornwall Healthy Schools 2017-2019

Here at St Day and Carharrack, we recognise that being physically, mentally and emotionally healthy is vital to enable to effective learning. The school day, curriculum and other learning opportunities are carefully planned and delivered to ensure children understand what being healthy means, how they do it and the benefits this brings. It develops children's understanding about how to make safe lifestyle choices, helping them to become knowledgeable, independent and resilient adults.

We are thrilled that Cornwall Healthy Schools, within our Local Authority, have agreed that the work we do to keep our children healthy has a significant positive impact and we are therefore the proud owners of the title 'Cornwall Healthy School 2017-2019'. What a wonderful achievement to be able to share!
