Meet the Team

  • Miss Hannah Ponsford

    Year 1 Teacher

This is my second year teaching at St Day and Carharrack School as an ECT (Early Career Teacher) and I have instantly felt welcomed into this enthusiastic and dedicated team. Previously training at St Day and Carharrack School has strengthened my passion and desire to make an impact on every individual’s life, providing a safe, comfortable, and stimulating learning environment. The vision I hold for future practice, is to always foster a sense of belonging and inclusivity to both my class and the whole-school community. I truly feel privileged to be part of such a rewarding profession that equips children with the necessary skills to be independent individuals, in order to achieve their future aspirations.

A principal value of mine is to maintain a positive and enthusiastic attitude that creates contagious excitement. Creating an immersive curriculum that encompasses hands-on experiences and gives real purpose to children’s lessons is an aspect of practice which I am hugely passionate about.

Outside of school, I love exploring new places in Cornwall and being out in nature with my two mad springer spaniels! I strongly value outdoor learning and believe we should inspire children to use it as much as possible, particularly with the incredible surroundings Cornwall has to offer.

I can hardly contain my excitement about continuing my journey at St Day and Carharrack School! I know it’s going to be a fantastic year with limitless opportunities for pupils to enjoy, engage and excel.
