Reading

Reading at St Day and Caharrack:

At St Day and Carharrack Primary School, we are lucky to have a teaching staff who have a passion and enthusiasm for reading. Reading is the key to your child's learning and will support their development in all areas of learning such as Communication  and Language, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Physical Development, Literacy, Mathematics and Understanding the World...the benefits are endless!

Our school has a whole school target for helping every child become a reader. We believe in every child and will support and cater to their individual needs. As a school we teach reading, writing and spelling through the Ruth Miskin 'Read Write Inc' scheme. Alongside this approach, we develop a love of 'real' books and encourage you to take pleasure in reading to your child every day.
Recommended Read From Miss Rogers
I love books! I love looking at all the pictures in books and sometimes making up my own story from what I can see. I recommend that you hear Julia Donaldson's The Gruffalo. It is about a little mouse that meets lots of characters in the woods. One of which he wasn't expecting!
