Amber Class-Yr2

Welcome to the Spring Term in Amber Class!
The children have made an exciting start to their topic of The Great Fire of London. This week the children have started to make model houses, learning their new fiction story of Toby and the Great Fire of London and discuss their Spring Term class trip to the fire station.
This is an exciting term in year 2. The children are attending weekly swimming lessons on Friday afternoons. Well done for a brilliant start last week. We are looking forward to celebrating our weekly achievements.
I have been really impressed with the children's progress and enthusiasm with their weekly spelling rule,       '-dge/-ge'. The children are able to discuss the sounds and identify the spelling rule in reading as well as engaging in exciting, interactive games to bring our spellings to life!
Another fantastic week in Amber class! This week the children have been writing their final drafts of their 'Toby and the Great Fire of London' innovated stories. The children have enjoyed creating their own books which are proudly displayed in our classroom. Come in and have a look at our amazing writing!
The children have also had a visit from Daya this week who taught us all about Hinduism and Indian culture. We learned traditional dances, dressed up and learned about other traditions. We made chapatis and ate them with a potato curry.
To end the week the children had a workshop from Caterlink to learn about a healthy and balanced diet. We tried radishes, rocket, grapes, blueberries, spinach and celery.
